The Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) : คือการสอบวัดระดับภาษาเกาหลีที่จัดขึ้นปีละครั้งประมาณเดือนตุลาคมสำหรับชาวต่างชาติในประเทศเกาหลีหรือชาวต่างชาติที่เรียนภาษาเกาหลีในต่างประเทศ

ข้อสอบจะถูกแบ่งเป็นสี่ส่วน: คำศัพท์และไวยากรณ์ เขียน ฟัง และ อ่าน
การสอบจะถูกแบ่งเป็นสองประเภทคือ ภาษาเกาหลีทั่วไป (S-TOPIK) กับ ภาษาเกาหลีเพื่อธุรกิจ (B-TOPIK)

S-TOPIK (Standard TOPIK) คือ การวัดและประเมินความสามารถทางภาษาเกาหลีที่จำเป็นในด้านวิชาการอย่างเช่น การศึกษาต่อ หรือความเข้าใจในวัฒนธรรมเป็นต้น การสอบจะแบ่งระดับขั้นเป็น 3 ขั้น 6 ระดับ คือ ขั้นต้นจะเป็นระดับ 1-2 ขั้นกลางจะเป็นระดับ 3-4 และขั้นสูงจะเป็นระดับ 5-6 ส่วนเนื้อหาในการสอบนั้นจะแบ่งเป็นการอ่าน การฟัง การเขียน คำศัพท์และไวยากรณ์
B-TOPIK (Business TOPIK) คือ การวัดประเมินความสามารถทางภาษาเกาหลี ในการสื่อสารเจรจาที่จำเป็นต่อการประกอบธุรกิจในเกาหลี การสอบ B-TOPIK (Business TOPIK) จะสอบ 4 ส่วนเหมือนกับ S-TOPIK (Standard TOPIK) คือสอบการอ่าน การฟัง การเขียน คำศัพท์และไวยากรณ์ และการสอบจะเป็นปรนัยทั้งหมด

จุดประสงค์ของการสอบ

เพื่อชี้แนะชาวต่างชาติที่อาศัยในประเทศเกาหลีหรือชาวเกาหลีที่อยู่ต่างประเทศที่ไม่ได้ใช้ภาษาเกาหลีเป็นภาษาแม่ ให้เข้าใจถึงระบบการเรียนภาษาเกาหลีอย่างถูกต้องและเพื่อขยายการใช้ภาษาเกาหลีให้แพร่หลายไปทั่วโลก
เพื่อวัดระดับและประเมินการใช้ภาษาเกาหลี ซึ่งจำเป็นต่อผู้จะเข้าศึกษาต่อในประเทศเกาหลีหรือทำงานในประเทศเกาหลี

The Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) is a Korean language test offered once a year to foreigners in Korea and people studying Korean in other countries. TOPIK is administered by the Korean Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation.
The test is divided into four parts: vocabulary & grammar, writing, listening, and reading. There is currently no oral section. Two versions of the test are offered: standard (S)-TOPIK and the business (B)-TOPIK.

There are three different levels of S-TOPIK: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
Depending on the average score and minimum marks in each section of S-TOPIK, test-takers can achieve grades 1-2, 3-4, 4-5 at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. In B-TOPIK the scores in each section (out of 100) are added together to give a score out of 400.

The objectives of the test are : to guide non-native speakers of Korean and overseas Korean to methods of learning Korean and to expand the use of Korean around the world; and to measure and evaluate the use of Korean performance and utilize the test results as a vehicle for overseas study and employment.

A student studying overseas and a graduate from overseas school (Overseas residential Korean)
